Três crianças sapecas têm como castigo ir a um museu. Lá uma guia diferente as leva a conhecer um livro chamado O Livro da Vida, que contém todas as histórias.

É o mote de início para o fantástico, psicodélico e exótico Festa no Céu, que explica, grosso modo a tradição mexicana para as festividades do dia de finados (Festa de los Muertos). E há outra linda história que também nos conduz ao mundo dos lembrados e mundo dos esquecidos: La Muerte que cuida daqueles que são queridos e lembrados por seus parentes na Terra, e por isso vivem sempre em festa e Xibalba, que zela pelos esquecidos num lugar triste e cinza; fazem uma aposta sobre um triangulo amoroso; acompanhado três amigos (a linda e impetuosa Maria, o valente, e mais tarde militar Joaquim e Manolo, romântico, sonhador e músico, forçado a se tornar toureiro pela tradição de família desde a infância até a juventude. Os meninos ficam “apadrinhados” por Muerte e Xibalba; e qual conseguir o coração de Maria, valerá a governança do de ambos os mundos do subterrâneo ao seu padrinho.
De visual impactante e roteiro inusual, esta animação mexicana/norte americana é diversão certa para hoje, nos levando a pensar um pouco em nossos conceitos de bem, mal, inferno, céu.
Conhecer tradições diferentes a respeito de temas tão universais como desconfortáveis como a morte; não só amplia a cultura geral como pode, e deve acrescentar muito aos sentimentos de inconformismo, revolta e tristeza que nos são incutidos desde a infância. Aceitação, desafio, fidelidade, altruísmo e até sacrifício não são retratados de maneira complexa ou dualista. São naturalmente colocados na trama, e vida e mortes são vistas como parte de nossa história. Claro que há, sim; sofrimento, dor, tristeza. Mas o tratamento de respeito e seriedade a estes assuntos é sutil, e delicadamente colocado por baixo da aventura rocambolesca e quase canastrona tipicamente mexicana do desenho.

Tradições do visual colorido e alegre do país saltam da tela, em Festa no Céu. As personagens tem a aparência de marionetes, tanto os “vivos” quanto os habitantes do subterrâneo, reforçando a alegoria de que tudo não passa de fantasia; mais um motivo para lembrar que o folclore leva sabedoria e verdade aonde for revivido (a cada recontagem de história).
Filminho alegre e nada funesto para um festival de nachos e guacamole; repensando o Dia de Los Muertos, numa cultura um pouco mais próxima a nossa que o batido e anglo-saxônico Halloween.

After I initially commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on every time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the exact same comment. There has to be an easy method you are able to remove me from that service? Thanks.
