Quando C.S Lewis faleceu, em 1963, os manuscritos feitos por ele foram queimados. Salvo alguns documentos, que foram entregues pelo jardineiro à Walter Hooper, secretário de Lewis. Apesar do papel amarelado e envelhecido pelo tempo, o título era legível, tratava-se da continuação nunca revelada de uma das histórias mais icônicas do mundo, A Torre Negra.
Em 1938, o lendário C.S Lewis presenteou a humanidade com a Trilogia Cósmica, protagonizada pelo filólogo Elwis Ransom. Trata-se de um clássico, que na época do lançamento foi igualado apenas a O Senhor dos Anéis, de J.R.R. Tolkien. O que se acreditava ser o último volume dessa série, Uma Força Medonha, parecia o fim dessa viagem interplanetária.
Agora, A Torre Negra, reproduzida de forma fiel aos manuscritos, conta mais uma vez as aventuras espaciais de Ransom, ao lado de personagens igualmente conhecidos, como Orfeu e MacPhee. A história é marcada por debates sublimes sobre viagens entre dimensões e a violação do espaço-tempo, contada por um dos principais nomes da literatura universal.
Mesmo com algumas partes incompletas, Walter Hooper fez questão de retratar exatamente o que foi produzido antes da morte do irlandês. Ele acredita que muito pode ter se perdido no meio do incêndio, mas nem mesmo o fogo foi capaz de apagar a genialidade de C.S Lewis em contar boas histórias.
