Sesc 24 de Maio recebe 21ª Bienal de Arte Contemporânea Sesc Videobrasil
A 21ª Bienal de Arte Contemporânea Sesc Videobrasil | Comunidades Imaginadas, que ocorre de 9 de outubro de 2019 a 2 de fevereiro de 2020, no Sesc 24 de Maio, em São Paulo, tem como objetivo abordar a questão sobre presença dos nacionalismos para a compreensão das disputas que marcam o nosso tempo e reúne mais de 60 obras e duas coleções, 55 artistas de 28 países, entre vídeos, pinturas, fotografia e instalação.
Juntos, a diretora artística Solange Farkas, o trio de curadores Gabriel Bogossian, Luisa Duarte e Miguel López e os membros do júri de seleção Alejandra Hernández Muñoz, Juliana Gontijo e Raphael Fonseca analisaram 2.280 inscrições, de 105 nacionalidades, para selecionar obras advindas do Brasil, América Latina, África, Ásia, Oriente Médio e Oceania. Pela primeira vez, o tema norteador foi anunciado já na convocatória.
A mostra se inspira no clássico estudo de Benedict Anderson para pensar nos tipos de organização social e comunitária que existem para além, às margens ou nas brechas dos Estados-nação: comunidades religiosas ou místicas, grupos refugiados de seus territórios originais, comunidades clandestinas, fictícias, utópicas ou aquelas constituídas nos universos subterrâneos de vivências corporais, sexuais.
É esse horizonte que se faz presente nas obras de autoria de artistas indígenas ou de povos originários do Brasil, Estados Unidos, Canadá, México, Peru e Nova Zelândia com trabalhos que tencionam as questões presentes no fazer e na representação dessas culturas na arte e no mundo (obras de Alberto Guarani, Jim Denomie, Alto Amazonas Audiovisual, Claudia Martínez Garay e outros), nas obras que abordam o universo cuir/LGBT (como Aykan Safoglu, Megan-Leigh Heilig, Nilbar Güres, Paulo Mendel & Vitor Grunvald), questões raciais (Emo de Medeiros, Nelson Makengo, Thierry Oussou, Jonathas de Andrade etc), conflitos fronteiriços. A essas e tantas obras vem somar-se projetos de cinco artistas convidados: Andrea Tonacci, Hrair Sarkissian, Teresa Margolles, Rosana Paulino e Thierry Oussou.
A mostra tem abertura no dia 9 de outubro.
